Colchester Vineyard is a recent start-up (a satellite church plant from Southend Vineyard) with a big vision – to build a community of faith that, by the way it lives and works, will reach out to people in Colchester for whom church and religion seem irrelevant, or even malign.

It’s all about…
Our main objective is to invite people to become followers of Jesus, and for us to learn how to follow him together. We believe Jesus lived, died and rose again to make it possible for everyone to find new life, and for God’s way of doing things to be rolled out across the world. This is an adventure all people are called to join, and as people shape their lives around Jesus and his message, they find true meaning and purpose in life.

We’re enthusiastic about…
We value informality, authenticity, relevance, friendship, justice and compassion for the poor. We read the Bible, we expect God to equip and empower all his people (“everyone gets to play”), we trust that he heals and restores. We like real meetings with God – in prayer, worship, with people, and serving people – without being religious. We like parties, too.

Part of a bigger picture in Colchester
We believe Vineyard has a particular calling, a way of doing church that is relevant to ordinary people today. We’re not better than any other church, but we do have a particular job to do. We work alongside other churches, and pray blessing and success for all the churches in Colchester: together they serve God and are vital for the community.
