Working with Focus on Malawi/The Raven Trust, we have a team in Malawi at the moment. The trip was originally scheduled to set up and train people on some newly-delivered optometry equipment. Regrettably that equipment was damaged when the lorry carrying it came off the road last month, so the team’s main job now is to assess the damage and try to do as many repairs as possible.
First reports from the clinic, at Ekwendeni, are positive – the glue, brackets and screws we packed seem to be working on the structure! But the electrics will need expert work and some replacements. Next stop Livingsonia Clinic, followed by the one at Embangweni.
