Join us for brunch on Sunday 15 May, at the Playhouse, St John’s Street Colchester, starting at 11.00am. And why not bring friends and family? Let us know if you’re coming, so we can give the staff a guide to the numbers expected.
On 15 April, twelve people gathered for (probably) the first-ever glasses measuring party on the planet! A few experts were in attendance to train the others and quite soon everyone was measuring and labelling. But it wasn’t all hard work: we watched footage of life in Malawi, and work at the Ekwendeni and Livingstonia eye clinics, fortified by exotic nibbles, with wine and coffee. At the end of the evening, 222 pairs of glasses had been measured and labelled. Thanks to everyone who came and to Caroline and family for hosting. All specs go to Africa through Focus on Malawi.
Another great brunch gathering at The Playhouse today. Thanks again to The Playhouse staff. We also celebrated Andrew and June’s recently announced engagement. Simon Taylor (below), who heads up the innovative CO1 youth café project in long-ago redundant Holy Trinity Church, joined us and after brunch showed us around the ancient site, and how preparations are going. Opening day will be on Saturday 16 April and the builders finish the day before! We plan to be of use with paint brushes in the urgent hours between.
